Overview

The Pictsweet Company is growing! A 4th generation family owned company established in 1945, Pictsweet is a frozen vegetable producer with agricultural roots. We are hiring a 2nd Shift/ 3rd Shift Production Supervisor in Santa Maria, CA. The Supervisor will be responsible for the management of the department during an assigned shift. This role will coordinate departmental activities with other managers and supervisors to ensure production meets budget, scheduling, and quality standards.

Position Reports to: Production Manager

Salary Range is $75,000 to $80,000 USD

Responsibilities

  • Willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
  • 2nd shift varies: 8 months per year, Oct- May, approximately 3 pm - 12am, 5 pm - 2 am.
  • 3rd shift varies: 4 months per year, June-Sep, approximately  9 pm - 6 am.
  • Ensures and monitors all quality and food safety systems in place for the production of quality products manufactured under clean and safe conditions.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulations relating to food safety and personnel safety such as FDA, USDA, OSHA, and CAL-OSHA. 
  • Follows all Company policies and procedures and ensures a safe work place.
  • Coordinates production scheduling with management, warehouse, quality control, and maintenance personnel.
  • Monitors production lines and directs dailiy production schedule. Visually inspects work areas and production equipment, ensures equipment operates properly, and notifies maintenance if repairs need to be completed.
  • Monitors the hourly HACCP checks and ensures compliance with standards and procedures and takes corrective action if needed.
  • Monitors, trains, and evaluates hourly associates and provides counsel as necessary.
  • Monitors and evaluates production performance to ensure performance standards are met. Adjusts product, manpower, and equipment resources as needed.
  • Implements corrective action when process deviations occur in accordance with the facilities HACPP program and notifies appropriate personnel.
  • Controls costs, operates within budget parameters, and maintains appropriate production records and statistical reports.
  • Communicates frequently with plant management regarding production. Anticipates and resolves problems.
  • Assist in both internal and external food safety audits. Conducts food safety and personnel safety training. 
  • Serves on the Emergency Response Team and serves as a first responder to accidents and participates in all required meetings. 
  • Assist in timekeeping and learn appropriate systems to manage associates' time.
  • Coordinate between Production and Warehouse to meet forklift and operator requirements.
  • Report all accidents and injuries and complete accident and/or incident reports as required, and ensure drug tests are administered.
  • Ensure Forklift Operators perform daily forklift checklist procedures.
  • Check the Q.A. paperwork for compliance with established procedures.
  • Annotate any down time on baggers, cause of the down time, and corrective actions. Ensure appropriate work orders are generated as needed.
  • Work with PKMS, coordinate product usage, and resolve problems with product for the Production and Warehouse Department.
  • Conduct food safety and personnel safety training.
  • Maintain Forklift Certification and operate FL equipment as necessary.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the different positions associated with Production and oversee necessary training.
  • Resolve employee grievances and submit unsettled grievances to Human Resources Manager for action.
  • Perform all other duties appropriate to the position as requested by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 3 years' experience as a supervisor in a manufacturing or food environment.
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are helpful but not required.
  • Must be computer proficient with spreadsheets and word-processing

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to work in varying temperatures and conditions.
