Overview

The Pictsweet Company is currently seeking a Human Resources Manager for our Bells, TN facility.  A 4th generation family owned company established in 1945, Pictsweet is a frozen vegetable producer with agricultural roots. The HR Manager is responsible to support the Bells plant and other local operations as assigned that do not have resident Human Resource staff (i.e. Farm Operations, Agriculture Department, Machine Harvest, and Jackson, TN Warehouse).  The incumbent will plan, direct, and coordinate human resource management activities of those facilities and maintain functions such as associate relations, policies, training, and regulatory compliance.  The Human Resources Manager will also work closely with the Community Development Manager in recruiting.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible to manage the Human Resources Department at the Bells Plant and all HR functions that support other assigned locations (i.e. Farms, Agriculture Department, Machine Harvest, and Jackson Warehouse).
  • Monitors regulatory guidelines and ensures compliance with all regulations relating to food safety and associate safety such as FDA, USDA, OSHA, and TOSHA. Complies with all other regulations and laws affecting the company (business law, trade secrets, personnel practices, etc.)
  • Observes all Company policies and procedures, which include SOPs, Associate Handbook, Food Quality Policies, GMP Handbook, HAACP, and Pictsweet Safety Procedures.
  • Manages new hire orientation process for all hourly, skilled hourly, and salary positions at the Bells Plant and other assigned locations.
  • Develops, reviews, and updates job descriptions for all salaried personnel.
  • Works with Corporate Office in communicating benefit changes on health insurance, 401k, and other benefits.
  • Advises managers and supervisors on organizational policy and federal and state regulations.
  • Serves as a liaison between management and associates by handling questions, helping resolve work-related problems, determining and effecting appropriate disciplinary action.
  • Provides training on company policies, such as harassment, EEO, food safety and security, and associate safety.
  • Works with attorney and Corporate Office on resolving EEOC claims and OFCCP audits and represents Company at associate related hearings and investigations.
  • Ensures timely and proper processing of payroll and attendance/leave policy administration.
  • Organizes and assists with associate related functions.
  • Assists in maintaining PSM program and ensuring facility is prepared for emergency response to an incident.
  • Participates on the Emergency Response Team and attends required training and meetings.
  • Advances safety standards and safe work procedures and implements required safety programs.
  • Oversees the administration and implementation of the facilities’ safety programs, reviews safety reports, safety logs, and accident investigation reports to determine significant accident trends.
  • Works with management team and assists in routine and annual auditing and inspection operations.  Performs monthly food safety audits, and helps resolve issues found in the audits.  Oversees corrective action for HR/Grounds monthly food safety audit.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business or related field of study.
  • MBA or MS in HR or related field a plus but not required.
  • Candidate must have at a minimum 5-7 years of management experience in Human Resources preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Position requires familiarity and computer proficiency with mainframe systems such as UKG/KRONOS, as well as spreadsheets, word processing and data base software products.
  • Must be practiced at objectively coaching associates and management through complex, difficult, and emotional issues and exhibit the ability to research and analyze various different type of data information.
  • Must have considerable experience in the principles and practices of Human Resources administration and associate relations with demonstrated competence in employment law and other government compliance regulations.

Physical Environmental Factors: 

 

This position will work primarily in an office environment with periodic exposure to temperature controlled production and storage areas in the plant along with visits to farm and other outside facilities.  Incumbent will be required to work a flexible schedule which will include nights, weekends, and holidays and is on emergency call 24/7.  Position holder must meet residency requirement and reside within the immediate area of Bells, TN or be willing to move into that designated area and will be required to be an active participant on the Emergency Response Team.
