Overview

The Pictsweet Company is growing! We are currently seeking a Corporate Food Safety Manager to join our Technical Services deparmtnet at our corporate office in Bells, TN. The Corporate Food Safety Manager (CFSM) is responsible for oversight of the Food Safety Systems at the assigned Pictsweet production facilities. The CFSM is responsible for managing and mentoring the Manger of Food Safety at the assigned Pictsweet facilities. The CFSM will work with the Director of Food Safety (DFS) to develop the corporate food safety policies and ensure they are properly implemented at the assigned Pictsweet facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all Food Safety Systems & Regulatory Programs at assigned facilities are in place for the production and storage of all products manufactured under clean, safe, and wholesome conditions.
  • Confirm and validate that all training programs associated with BRC Global Food Safety System, Sanitation, Microbiology, Pest Control, Allergen Management, HACCP, GMP, SSOP are achieved at assigned facilities.
  • Work with the assigned facilities to resolve all regulatory issues or concerns.
  • Be cognizant of changes in the Regulatory environment so the assigned facilities can remain on the leading edge of issues.
  • Ensure that the assigned facilities have effective, validated sanitation systems.
  • Ensure that the assigned facilities have effective Food Security Systems.
  • Conduct internal audits of the assigned Pictsweet facilities.
  • Approve, audit, and manage the compliance of Pictsweet frozen vegetable suppliers and/or ingredient suppliers.
  • Conduct training programs in, but not limited to, the following; Sanitation, Environmental Monitoring, Microbiology, Pest Control, Allergen Management, HACCP, GMP, SOP’s, and Internal Auditing.
  • Ensure that the assigned facilities maintain systems and programs in a manner to meet BRC Criteria continually.
  • Work with the assigned facilities to validate that equipment modifications or new equipment can effectively be cleaned and sanitized to a microbial level acceptable to The Pictsweet Company.
  • Interface with individuals in various roles through the organization to provide corrective actions to solve a process deviation or technical problem.
  • Work in concert with department managers to assure timely and accurate reporting of food safety issues.
  • Perform Routine analysis and resolve consumer/customer complaints, as they relate to food safety. Assist in the implementation of the corrective actions with the appropriate facility management personnel.
  • Perform other duties appropriate to the position as requested by the DFS.
  • Must be willing to travel to assigned Pictsweet facilities as needed.

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION: Must have B.S. degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related biological field. The CFSM must possess an understanding of management/leadership fundamentals. The CFSM must have a basic mathematical reasoning ability and a basic understanding of statistics.

 

EXPERIENCE: Must have up-to-date knowledge of FSMA, GFSI Standards, and a concrete understanding of food processing, microbiology, sanitation, HACCP, GMP, and environmental monitoring. The CFSM should have technical knowledge of COP and CIP, cleaning and sanitizing chemicals, sanitary design of food processing equipment, & internal auditing of food manufacturing facilities. This is typically gained with 5-10 years food production, management, & auditing experience.

 

SPECIAL SKILLS: Must possess excellent communication skills, verbal and written, Bilingual, English/Spanish a plus. The CFSM must be Microsoft suite proficient with spreadsheets and word processing. Must be able to process large volumes of information, make decisions under pressure, and provide leadership in difficult situations. The CFSM must be a proficient trainer of direct reports. Must be able to develop and mentor direct reports for future responsibilities. The CFSM must work in a collegial manner with other departments to accomplish corporate objectives while achieving departmental goals.
