Overview

The Pictsweet Company is growing! We are currently seeking an Engineering Manager to join our corporate engineering team in Bells, TN. The Engineering Manager will be responsible for the management of our plant engineering staff, as well as, the successful execution of capital and deferred maintenance projects at all of the Pictsweet facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage plant engineers that are stationed at remote locations, ensure selection and effective training of qualified personnel, provide technical direction, and assist plant engineers with the execution of capital and deferred maintenance projects following the plan/design/acquisition stages from the Corporate Engineering Department.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all regulations relating to food safety such as FDA and BRC requirements, personnel safety such as OSHA and TOSHA, and environmental standards such as EPA requirements. 
  • Assist all plants with regulatory requirements relating to PSM, RMP, and life safety compliance.
  • Participate in facility master planning with the Corporate Engineering Department. Utilize master plans to guide decision-making processes.
  • Provide technical support to all Pictsweet facilities in the areas of ammonia refrigeration, processing, packaging, controls, and utility systems.
  • Assist all Pictsweet plants with maintaining equipment essential to production operations such as the ammonia refrigeration system, air compressors, and boilers.
  • Understand and track plant’s energy usage, interface with utility providers as needed, ensure reliable and safe energy distribution within our plants, and work with plant engineers to lower the plant’s electricity and natural gas bills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited college with a minimum 3.25 overall GPA

  • Firm understanding of the fundamentals of refrigeration, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, machine design, materials, and mechanics of materials.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Plant Engineering management experience in a food production environment is preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate engineering designs and concepts through sketches, drawings, and written documents.
  • Experience preferred, particularly in ammonia industrial refrigeration, food plant/sanitary designs, and plant engineering.
  • Must be willing to travel to Pictsweet’s remote facilities as needed.
